Feature Highlight: blocking="render"
Those of us who give a FOUC (Flash of Unstyled Content) about controlling how websites load will be happy to learn about blocking="render". As it name implies, this attribute can make a <link>, <script> or <style> tag block the page's rendering until they're fully loaded.
Browser support isn't quite there yet–but it's definitely something that will make web loading UX much smoother once it becomes widely supported.

The whole point of the web is to give people access to faraway content. Given that, it does feel a bit strange that loading that data is so often an afterthought, with little progress made in the last 30 years apart from slightly nicer spinner animations.
